Down (and Up)

Found out what Jake, Nate and Simon actually were doing yesterday - digging. The wine cellar. That most important room. I can't hide that when I saw the space, I was psyched... maybe more than anything so far. It was pretty cool. Give them kudos though - they had to haul the dirt out of the basement in five gallon buckets.

Matlock Masonry did a terrific job on finishing the chimney. The old chimneys had five feet of stone under them for a foundation. We used some of that stone for the hearth of the downstairs fireplace and some old brick for the upstairs hearth. It looks pretty slick...
