Pictures posted

Bunch of pictures posted and links to the gallery on the left. Finally had some nice days recently to take pictures of the windows and complete house. Amazingly, with all the rain recently, the basement has stayed dry recently.

The sheetrock is looking great now. Another day or two and things should be sanded down and finished. Whoa - does that mean they might even start painting soon?

Simon had a great idea of using oak lumber from the old barn for the kitchen penninsula countertop. They grabbed the wood for that on Monday, which looks like it will take 2-3 months to dry out. That won't be ready in time for move-in. Oh well. It will mean a lot to incorporate some of the building material from the old barn into the house.

The geothermal heat pumps still aren't hooked up to the water line. I'm not quite sure what the hold-up is there. It does look pretty impressive in the basement though.

The excavators are out this week burying the gutter drain lines and doing a final site and yard grade. Landscaping should go in next week. Now before I hear anything about the lack of landscaping... it's an old farm house. You didn't spend time landscaping; you were growing food, cutting firewood, and doing your best to survive. I fully intend to use those excuses as a reason not to landscape much; all that takes maintenance. There are enough projects left out there that I don't need to immerse myself in flower beds each year. Landscaping will consist of some maple trees and seeding a new yard in.
